In Nov., 2004 I read an article online that said Gastric Bypass Surgery could "cure" Type II Diabetes. I pursued it, first the RnY, 2/06, but I walked away after hearing about the Duodenal Switch or "DS". I pursued it for eight long, frustrating years. On Friday, March 14, 2014 at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, my hope, surgery, was achieved. Within 30 days, my no.1 goal was met. The diabetes that had plagued me for 15 years was GONE. No more high blood pressure, either. *glory*

Foods I No Longer Like
--Onions. I really loved onions, green, white, red, raw, grilled, it didn't matter; I loved onions.
I cannot tolerate the taste and they give me diarrhea.
--Avocado. This has been ongoing about five years. I don't know what changed, but I cannot tolerate the taste or even the sight of them. They just gross me out.
*I traded that dislike for a like of cucumbers, which I previously always disliked. Go figure.
--Fast food. Just...ugh. Especially the meat. Bleah.
--Eggs. I don't know what it is, but they taste bad. Too bad, because I've always loved eggs, cooked any old way. *sigh*
And most other foods? Just taste yuck. Maybe I'll take a couple of days off "food" and just do protein shakes. But I do get hungry and my stomach growls. Yes it does.
Oy.

The vast majority of foods you used to like you'll like again down the road -- but I'm talking years, not months. In the meantime, this helps with weight loss.
ReplyDeleteI can not do eggs now unless they are hard boiled. Can not stand the taste or texture, and my tummy has an auto-eject button on them. Fast food generally sends me to the bathroom. And don't get me started on chicken breast or any grilled meat. Sigh.
