In Nov., 2004 I read an article online that said Gastric Bypass Surgery could "cure" Type II Diabetes. I pursued it, first the RnY, 2/06, but I walked away after hearing about the Duodenal Switch or "DS". I pursued it for eight long, frustrating years. On Friday, March 14, 2014 at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, my hope, surgery, was achieved. Within 30 days, my no.1 goal was met. The diabetes that had plagued me for 15 years was GONE. No more high blood pressure, either. *glory*

My Surgeon Says I Look Great
I think I just look tired. And wrinkled. Tired and wrinkled. And pale. Tired, wrinkled, and pale. But I do feel great, so there's that. (Taken right after surgeon follow-up appointment, still high on his "you look great" comment. That wore right off as soon as I saw these selfies. Wowza. :p )

At our age, our faces and necks ALWAYS look older when we lose a lot of weight. But, due to increased mobility and health, we come across, for a while, as looking younger overall. :)
